The YSL Team is designed for children ages 7 to 13 and is the natural progression for skier development after the Griz Ski Team. The YSL Team focuses on developing and strengthening alpine ski techniques as outlined by the United States Ski Association, using a combination of drills, games, free skiing, and an introduction to ski racing. It should be noted that the YSL program has a major emphasis on all-mountain skiing, fun, and cultivating a lifelong love for skiing.
YSL athletes are encouraged to attend at least one sanctioned competition throughout the season. It should be noted that while we encourage all YSL athletes to compete, it is not a requirement. All athletes who participate in a sanctioned competition are required to purchase a USSA Competitors License, as well as other fees associated with the sanctioned competition.
YSL athletes can expect to ski in groups of 6 – 10 athletes and will receive coaching from all MSEF YSL coaches throughout the course of the season. The breakdown of training throughout the season will be roughly 75% “focused free skiing”, games, and drills, and 25% gate training. For all athletes looking for more gate training please see our Night Training options.
YSL 1 Day – Saturday’s Only
*Note that because we want to make sure there is the proper number of coaches available for all the athletes, Saturday only athletes will not be allowed to train on Sundays (except for extenuating circumstances).
YSL 2 Day – Saturday and Sunday
*Note that on race weekends coaching will not be provided on Sundays at Snowbowl.
